Anne Patricia Driscoll Mannella

Anne D. Mannella went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday evening, August 9th, 2012.
Anne Patricia Driscoll, the daughter and second child of Aimee C. Donohue Driscoll and John E. Driscoll Senior, was born on April 23rd, 1931 in Saratoga Springs, NY. Anne was pre-deceased by her older brother: John E. Driscoll Jr.
At a very young age, her parents built a home in an idyllic waterfront setting on the Sacandaga Reservoir and she had the good fortune to grow up with postcard views and lake living.
As a teenager, Anne was an avid skier and joined a club called the Sitzmarkers. After St. Peters Nursing School in Saratoga, Anne married Gene Mannella in Troy, NY. They were married for 37 years and raised four children. Anne is survived by her daughter Aimee (Beatty), her sons Marc, Chris and Adrian, and her grandchildren Ryan and Kyle Beatty, Nick and Jack Mannella and Lindsey and Brian Mannella. Anne's first child: Anne de Beaupre, or little Anne, was unfortunately lost during childbirth.
Anne absolutely loved her grandkids and relished the role of Grammy Anne. She found a unique way to connect with each of the grandkids in different ways and they loved her deeply.
Anne was a devout Catholic and attended mass regularly until age simply slowed her down. At one point in the 70s, she went to mass daily. She was well known in the church and visited regularly with the priests and church staff. She liked to connect with people.
Anne had a hearty laugh and a good sense of humor. She had a twinkle in her eye. She liked to tell jokes. She told all of her caregivers jokes. It was her way of coping with cancer and letting those around her know she did not want them to suffer. She wanted to help them cope.
Anne handled the cancer well and fought with bravery and dignity. She was a strong woman who was thinking of those around her and her children even when she was uncomfortable and ailing.
Anne Patricia Driscoll Mannella had a good life and spread around a lot of love in the process. Rest in Peace.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all of her caregivers at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital , St. Matthew Center for Health and Rainbow Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Road (at Cumberland), Park Ridge, IL.
