Myra Sue Driver Allen, age 83, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after two months of declining health.
She was born May 20, 1928 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Julia Mills Driver and Fred Driver.
Sue was a graduate of the 1945 Class of J. W. Cannon High School. Sue was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Kannapolis, NC for many years. Later, she was employed the Kannapolis City Schools as a teacher assistant until her retirement. Sue was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, where she was a member of the Chancel choir and pianist for the Men's Bible Class for many years. She is remembered by her daughter as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was happiest being around her family.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Wade Kaylor Allen; a son, Mark Allen; and her sister, Julia Mills Dunn.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Judy White. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, January 23, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis.
Survivors include her daughter, June Allen Leazer & husband, Eric of China Grove, NC; two grandchildren, Andy and Lindsey Allen of Kannapolis, NC; a daughter-in-law, Sharon H. Allen of Kannapolis, NC; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
