Joanne Mary Bean passed on November 5, 2016. She has been a resident of Marysville, CA, since 1991, when she and her husband, Robert Earl Bean moved from Lucerne, CA, for his health. He passed in 1993. With help of the local Widow and Widowers Association Joanne became a cheerful presence in her community of friends. She was an example of resilience and independence in the pursuit of well-being and adapting to changes.

Joanne was born the youngest child to Joseph Duarte and Mary Costas Duarte, in Providence, RI, March 16, 1932. She had been a radiology technician, and hair dresser, a wonderful wife of 25 years and beloved mother, grandmother and great- grandmother to her stepson and his family.

She leaves behind a sister and beloved niece and her family in Virginia, and nephew in Florida. Also many friends locally. Robert also has a son and family of Clearlake, CA.

She loved the local casinos, and gathering with friends once a month in Live Oak, CA, for card games and pot lucks. She was an avid reader and loved to share that with many.

Her favorite charities were the USO and Goodwill. Donations in her name would be appreciated

She will be interned on December 16, 2016, at Fairview Cemetery at 1:00 PM.

(Published in Appeal Democrat from Dec. 8 to Dec. 9, 2016 - Marysville, CA. Names of survivors omitted).
