Gladys N. DuBus died Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice in Jonesboro. She was 94.

Mrs. DuBus was born at the family home near Otwell to Oscar and Hazel Bulla on Dec. 7, 1915.

She graduated from Valley View High School. She married Joe DuBus, and they lived in Northeast Arkansas for many years. Gladys retired from Arkansas State University several years ago and also worked as cafeteria manager at South School in the Jonesboro School District.

She is survived by her brother Roy Bulla (Mary) of Ozark; sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Bulla Burger of Heber Springs; and sons, James DuBus (Madean) of Pittsburg, Texas, and Joe R. DuBus (Ruth) of Jefferson City, Mo.

Grandchildren include Ken DuBus of Pittsburg, Stephanie (Burt) Ruiz of Jefferson City, Lyle (Lisa) DuBus of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Andrea DuBus of Paragould.

Great-grandchildren include John Bledsoe and Skyler Vaught of Jefferson City and Jade DuBus of Paragould. Mrs. Lina Jane Kimbrell Strickland of Jonesboro is a special family friend.

Mrs. DuBus was preceded in death by her parents, husband and several brothers and sisters, including Irene Wilkins (Nolan), Fern Mills (Rommie), Grace Perkinson, Mary Farley (Joe), Edith Borden, Gene Bulla (Wanda), Jim Bulla and Lee, who died in infancy.

Gladys was a member of the First Christian Church of Jonesboro, was a foods judge and contributor to the Craighead County Fair, and she published cookbooks for her family and friends.

Funeral services were held in Langford-Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Wilcox officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were nephews, Rommie Mills and David Wilkins; and grandsons, Ken DuBus, Lyle DuBus, John Bledsoe, and Burt Ruiz.
