Martha Louise Arney, age 76, of Stephenson Court, Lenoir, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the residence. She was born March 11, 1936 in Burke County to Emily Louise Seacrest McFall and the late Rufus Ralph Duckworth. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, "Shot" Wayne Arney.
Mrs. Arney was retired from Caldwell County Schools, was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lenoir and a member of Eastern Star.
Survivors in addition to her mother include three daughters, Mrs. Sharon Diane Pickens and husband Fred of Mississippi, Mrs. Beverly Kay Winn and husband Lee of Oregon, and Mrs. Mary Martha Swanson and husband Daniel of Lenoir; one brother, Ralph Duckworth and wife Melitta of Morganton; one sister, Mary Anne Davis of Charlotte; eight grandchildren, Lori Pickens, Bradley Pickens, Lucy Winn, Henry Winn, Alivia Ashley, Sarah Swanson, Jack Swanson and Lane Swanson; and one great grandchild, Zane Vest.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church of Lenoir conducted by Rev. Jamie Armstrong. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
