STRONGHURST - LaVerne Glen Duesenberg, 80, Stronghurst, died at 12:10 p.m. Friday Oct. 12, 2012, in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. He was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Hibbing, Minn., the son of Gilbert and Bernice Melvin Duesenberg. He was married to Mary Maudie Stice. They later divorced.
Mr. Duesenberg was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He had lived in Stronghurst most of his adult life. He had delivered eggs to area residents for many years and had been employed at the former Alexander Lumber Company in Stronghurst for several years. More recently, he was a self employed painter, carpenter and handyman for several area businesses and residents.
Survivors include one son, Melvin (and fiancée Brenda Sanderson) Duesenberg, of Clinton; one grandson, Kenton Duesenberg; and one brother, Eldon (Diane) Duesenberg of Cedar Falls, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The graveside service for Mr. Duesenberg will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, in the Stronghurst Cemetery with Rev. Steve Minkler officiating. A memorial fund has been established.
