Ralph was born on September 7, 1924 in Harrisburg Illinois to Leslie Duncan and Ruth (Horning) Duncan.
He served in the Marine Corps in World War II in the Pacific. He graduated from Purdue University in 1950 with a degree in Civil Engineering and married Norma Boward that same year. He spent his career working for the Illinois Department of Transportation as a Construction Engineer. Ralph was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church, the Elks Club and the Springfield Motor Boat Club of which he was a past Commodore.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Norma; his children - Lesley Duncan (Tom Morris), Shelley Lukowicz (Craig), and Kevin Duncan (Nancy); 9 grand children – Elizabeth, Jeremie, Sean, Brett, Bradley, Adam, Joseph, Kelsey, and Marcus. He is also survived by one brother, George Duncan and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step brother Harold Gunderson. Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West,Springfield, where visitation will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 9:30 am with Rev. Jerry King officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the U. S. Marine Corps.
