Ernest "Karl" Duncan, 79, said he proved everyone wrong and made it into heaven on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015. Ernest was born March 11, 1936, in Springfield, Ill., the son of Ernest L. and Daisy Rebecca Karns Duncan. He was a decorated veteran and retired as an E8 for the United States Army. He dedicated 25 years of his life and served in Vietnam and in Korea. He was proud to serve his country and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Bronze Star, and many others for his heroic service. Ernest retired from the State of Illinois at McFarland Mental Health Center as an Administrative Assistant. Ernest Karl was a huge Cub fan, avid golfer, loved old cars, and enjoyed listening to music. He also loved to cook, coach, and played many sports, and was always ready for a "cold" can of Coca-Cola. He had a big heart, a great sense of humor, but most of all, he loved his family and friends and enjoyed the company of his one-eyed cat, Mr. Tibbs.
He is survived by three sons, Dennis and Randy and Craig .; one daughter, Kristy ; three grandchildren,; one great-grandchild, ; siblings, Maye , Charles, James , Patty ., Marjorie , Jo, David.; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, loved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra K. Duncan, and twin sons, Donald Eugene and Douglas Bennett (mother, Joyce D. Duncan).
Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery
