Amos Duncan, for many years one of the Negro political leaders of Springfield, died yesterday at his home, East Monroe street. A sufferer of heart trouble, he had been confined to his home for the last week. Duncan came to Springfield when he was a boy. When he reached his majority he became active in Republican politics, serving as a precinct committeeman. He was a member of the police department for six years and for eight years was a deputy sheriff. He was connected with various business ventures and once operated a motion picture house on East Washington street. At the time of his death he was engaged in the tavern business.

Survivors are his wife, Phoebe; one daughter, Laveda Madonna; two brothers, Hal of Los Angeles, Calif., and Nathaniel, city.
