Janet A. (Duncan) Dignan of Weymouth, died suddenly Aug. 16, 2013. She was 85. Janet grew up on Bowdoin Street in Dorchester and moved to Weymouth in 1954 where she raised her four sons. She worked for over 20 years for the financial firm of Standish Ayer and Wood in Boston. After retiring, Janet pursued her passion for quilting and fabric arts. A member of many local quilting guilds, she received numerous honors for the excellent quality and imagination of her work. Janet will be remembered by all who knew her for her feisty spirit, good humor and sparkling smile. She especially cherished spending time with family and friends whom she loved so much. Beloved wife of the late John Edward Dignan. Devoted mother of Andrew J. Dignan and his wife Sandra of Weymouth, Thomas J. Dignan and his wife Eileen of Whitman, Matthew J. Dignan and his wife Marianne of Sandwich and John P. Dignan and his wife Jill Reddish of Weymouth. Loving sister of the late Virginia McCormick. Cherished Nana of Lillian, Charles, Lindsay, Jack and Caroline. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, East Weymouth, at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street) prior to the funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 12 p.m. Burial at Village Cemetery, Weymouth.
