Allred, Cantrell Elizabeth, passed away at her home in Tucson, Saturday, May 30, 1992. She was 75. Mrs. Allred was born in Gallup, NM on July 3, 1916, the daughter of Sheldon and Pearl Dustin. In 1936 she moved to Safford, her home for the next 45 years. In Safford she married Ivan Lamar Allred, who preceded her in death in 1973. Cantrell and Lamar worked together in building the family enterprises. She attended Pomona College and graduated from St. Mary's Nursing School in Phoenix. Cantrell was a past president of the Safford Emblem Club and the Women's Association at the Mt Graham Country Club. She was a Grand Master bridge player and a member of the Duplicate Bridge Club in Safford. Following her move to Tucson, she worked as a volunteer with St. Elizabeth's of Hungary, and was active in the AARP. Mrs. Allred had many private charities. Many of her employees received educational opportunities or assistance with medical problems when they arose. She cared for them as her own. As the family matriarch, Cantrell took an active role in the continued success and happiness of her immediate and extended family. Cantrell leaves behind her daughter, Sidney Lynn Reilly of Tucson, as well as three sons, Jon W. Allred and Martin C. Allred, both of Safford, and Dustin L. Allred of Chicago. A brother, Charles Coleman resides in Killeen, TX. There are 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted in Tucson, Tuesday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. at immaculate Heart Catholic Church. Serving the Allred family is Davids's Safford Funeral Home.
