She was born in Rumford on June 13, 1924, the daughter of John and Elmira (Cormier) Dustin. Dorothy attended Oakland schools, graduating from Williams High School, class of 1942.
She was employed in the Plant Service Department of New England Telephone for 31 years, retiring in 1974.
An active member of the Oakland community, Dorothy was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church, president of the Oakland Garden Club for several years, a member and treasurer of the Oakland Tuesday Club, a member of the Oakland Area Historical Society, and a Girl Scout leader. She was president of the Jasper Keller Chapter, Telephone Pioneers of America, and president of the Kennebec Life Member Club of Telephone Pioneers.
Dorothy married Everett Mulliken Jr. on Dec. 29, 1950; he died Dec. 13, 1963. She married Joseph Ahearn in October 1973; he died March 28, 1992. Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Cunningham and husband Bruce of East Winthrop, Carol Ann Poulin and husband Theodore of Merimack, N.H., and Terri Lynn Mulliken of Andover, Mass.; a sister, Patricia A. Hood, and husband Richard, of Atlanta, Ga.; aunt Leiah McCleary of Portsmouth, N.H.; grandchildren Sarah Lynn Cunningham, Shane Michael Poulin and Colby James Poulin; and nephews Michael and Richard Dustin; grand-nephews Scott and Jeffrey Dustin; and grand-nieces Andrea Lemieux, and Erin Pierce.
