Leona M. "Lee" (Dustin) Dougherty passed away Friday evening, December 6th at the Woburn Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. The beloved wife of the late Ronald J. Dougherty, she was ninety-four years of age.

Born and raised in Woburn, she was one of two daughters of the late Alfred and Clorinda Dustin. Educated in Watertown, she was a graduate of Watertown High School. After high school, "Lee," as she was affectionately known, furthered her education at the Anthony School of Cosmetology for four years. She travelled with the school for many demonstrations during that time and learned a great deal. Eventually, she opened a shop of her own at home for clients. She truly enjoyed working with each and every one of her clients. A very vivacious and outgoing lady, she loved people, and in return they truly loved her! Singing and dancing were at the top of the list for enjoyment, combined with tap dancing, and always at the Watertown Theater.

In the late 1940s, Lee had the good fortune of meeting the love of her life, Ronald J. Dougherty. The two met through his aunt at a Christmas party and later married in 1950. They brought their wonderful son into the world, to whom they were completely devoted. They moved to Woburn in 1952 and nestled into the West Side where they made their home. Later, as the family grew, Lee was very enthusiastic about taking on the moniker of "Mimi" to her beloved granddaughters and great-grandson. She loved her family and always enjoyed their company, including that of her extended family.

Following retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Dougherty decided to make their home in the Acton area of Maine. Remaining there for thirty years, they soaked up the outdoor life and attended the Acton Fair every year without fail. They returned to Woburn in 2009. In the winter months, they took up residence in Brooksville, FL. They also loved to travel, going to Hawaii, Ireland, Colorado, Bermuda, the Caribbean, and all around the US together. Lee treasured each of these trips. A fun-loving, charismatic woman, Mrs. Dougherty was always ready to go and always enjoyed wherever the next trip took them.

A woman of great faith, Mrs. Dougherty was an active parishioner of St. Barbara's Church, helping out wherever she was needed. A very thoughtful, kind, and truly gracious woman throughout her lifetime, she has left very fond memories of those who had the pleasure of her friendship.

Mrs. Dougherty was a member of the St. Barbara's Sodality and the Woman's Auxiliary Legion, Post 101 in Woburn.

Mrs. Dougherty was predeceased by her husband, Ronald J. Dougherty, and her sister, Rose Dustin.

She is lovingly survived by her son, Ronald A. Dougherty and his wife Elaine of Woburn, her granddaughters, Briana, Alaina, and Meagan Dougherty, her great-grandson, Theodore, and her brother-in-law, Lawrence Dougherty of Woburn.
