Name Mrs. Eliza Bennett
Residence: Rome, MN
Note: hus: W. W

On the evening of Friday, 1st inst., between the hours of 9 and 10 o’clock P.M. Mrs. Eliza, wife of W. W. Bennett, Esq., of Rome, Houston co., M.T., aged 35 years.

Mrs. Bennett was endeared to a wide circle of friends in La Crosse, Brownsville and Black River Falls, where the family had been early pioneers, and at times, too, when in-coming strangers were made sensible of her kindly attentions and open-handed, unostentatious sympathies. Her disease was understood to be a Pluresy, which baffled the skills of our pest physicians. She retained the use of her mental faculties to the last, and took farewell leave of her heart-stricken husband and children, with that resignation and gentleness that shone so conspicuously throughout her short but useful career of life.

Her remains were followed to a beautiful place, chosen by herself a short time previous to her last illness by a numerous concourse of citizens, whose sympathies for the believed and reverence for the deceased, drew them from neighboring towns, and who will long cherish the memory of her rare and exemplary virtue.
