Arvilla Dodd, age 72, of Granger went dancing into heaven on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Yakima Regional Hospital.

She was born in Neosho, Kan. on Jan. 16, 1939 to Ralph and Juanita Eads. She moved to Granger at the age of 7 with her grandparents.

Arvilla graduated from Granger High School in 1958. During high school she was active in the debate club and cheerleading. She was also president of the FHA, queen of the Sweetheart Ball, and a Cherry Festival princess. Outside of high school she was a member of the Bug Hoppers dance team. Arvilla married her high school sweetheart Pete Dodd on May 19, 1958. They wed weeks before graduation due to his deployment into the service, a union lasting nearly 54 years.

Arvilla was a homemaker, raising her four daughters and two brothers. She also worked at the Yakima Bait Company for 20 years. In her early years she enjoyed bowling, dancing, reading, and being involved with many activities in the Granger Lions Club. She also enjoyed annual family vacations to the beach and trips to Reno. After retirement she enjoyed following her 14 grandchildren, who she affectionately referred to as her "little angels," to their many activities. She also loved playing Yahtzee with her grandkids on Thursday nights.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Gary Nash. She is survived by her husband Pete Dodd (Granger) of 54 years; her daughters Coletta Rojas (Dan) of Kennewick, Jovita Seto (Doug) of Lynden, Eva Carpenter (Craig) of Granger, and Dana Carpenter (Brad) of Granger; her brothers Ron and Dan Nash; her sister Clarice Cochran; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jeremy and Stephanie Rojas; Lance, Brett and Ryan Seto; Colton (Resa), Erica (Mario), Jessica, and Chase Carpenter; and Bethany, Austin, Emily, Natalie and Lindsey Carpenter.

Her grandkids would like to say the following: Grandma always called us her angels on earth... now she is ours in heaven. God blessed us with a wonderful woman who will be missed but never forgotten. We will love her always and forever, until we see her again.

We will be celebrating her life on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at Christian Worship Center in Zillah, Wash. (Cheyne Road) at 11 a.m. There will be food and fellowship immediately following at the Zillah Civic Center.
