Edward Jesse Eastabrook/s, son of Jesse and Lovina (Ferry) Eastabrook, was born a twin, Feb. 29, 1824, at Orwell, PA. Sadly, his twin brother Edmun only lived 11 days. He married Oct. 18, 1846, Emeline Potter, born July 9, 1823, at Bridgewater, PA. They had six children. He was a tailor and shoemaker by trade. He was in the Civil War (for the Union) and worked in railroad construction in Gang E, Sub Div. No. 1, 4th Division, Construction Corps, U.S. Mil. R.R'ds, Division of the Miss., and was later honorably discharged. The old Bradford County Atlas (1869) lists him as proprietor of "Mountain House," and also as a boot and shoe maker at Stevensville, PA. He was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years at Stevensville Presbyterian Church, Stevensville, PA. The family also lived some time at Potterville, PA. Later he moved to and died at his home on Belevue Ave., in Hammonton, Atlantic Co., N.J., marrying a second time to Anna Belle Gifford, and has another daughter, Frieda. E.J. spelled his last name Eastabrooks, though it has many variations. The beautiful stained glass window in his memory is at the Stevensville Presbyterian Church, near the front door.
