Catherine E. Calfas NORFOLK - Catherine E. Calfas, 89, born in Charlotte, N.C., passed away at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Dec. 13, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, George A. Calfas and brother, James Thomas Edison. Catherine retired in 1991 from Tidewater Rehabilitation Center, EVMS. Catherine is survived by her daughter, Elaine Benwitz (Norman); granddaughters, Denise Tanner and Rebecca Craven (Robert); great- grandchildren, Aaron and Ross Damon, Carl and Jessica Craven; and loving sister, Virginia Ashley. She was a long-standing member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of Penelope, San Antonio, Texas chapters. A Trisagion service will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with a visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Granby Street in Norfolk with Fr. Constantine Rogakos officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
