DOUBLE FUNERAL HERE FOR MOTHER AND SON

Mrs. Maude Baldwin passed away at 1:45 a.m. Friday at Passavant Hospital where she had been a patient for five days. Mrs. Baldwin's death followed that of her son, Mendel of Chicago by two days. He had been summoned to see his mother who was seriously ill. He passed away suddenly at the hospital at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15.
Mrs. Bakdwin was born January 30, 1878 at Waverly, a daughter of Richard and Mary Brown Edwards. Her husband, Newton A. Baldwin, preceded her in death in 1937. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Deatherage of Waverly; one brother, A. M. Edwards of Carlinville; three grandchildren, Mrs. Betty Moore of Carthage; Mrs. Carol Jean Aducci of Chicago and Donald D. Deatherage of Elgin, and six great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Waverly Methodist Church, Waverly Chapter O. E. S. No. 320 and Waverly Woman's Club.

Mendel B. Baldwin was born in Waverly, June 14, 1904, a son of Newton and Maude Edwards Baldwin. His wife, the former Thelma Butcher of Waverly, preceded him in death in 1962.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Betty Moore of Carthage, and Mrs. Carol Jean Aducci of Chicago; one sister, Mrs. Thelma Deatherage of Waverly and six grandchildren, Toni, Lianne, Christie and Jimmie Aducci of Chicago and Jim and Dick Moore of Carthage.
He was a graduate of Waverly High School in 1924, a member of the Waverly Methodist Church, A. F. & A. M. No. 118 of Waverly and Woodlawn Chapter O. E. S. in Chicago. He was a past patron of Woodlawn Chapter.
Masonic services for Mr. Baldwin were held Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m. at the Neece Funeral Home.
Double funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Methodist Church in Waverly with Rev. John E. Muir, the pastor officiating. Burial was in Waverly East Cemetery.

Man Dies On Visit To Mom At Hospital

Waverly - A man who was summoned to see his mother, seriously ill in Passavant Hospital, himself died Wednesday evening. The mother died about 24 hours later.
Mendel Browning Baldwin, 59, of Chicago died at 11 p.m. Wednesday at Passavant Hospital. He had a history of a heart condition.
Mrs. Maude Baldwin, 86, of Waverly died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday at Passavnt Hospital.
Funeral services for both were held at 2 p.m. Sunday aty First Methodist Church, Waverly. Burial was in Waverly East Cemetery. Neece Funeral Home, Waverly was in charge of arrangements.
Surviving Mendel Baldwin are two daughters, Mrs. Anthony Aducci of Chicago and Mrs. Betty Moore of Carthage; one sister, Mrs. Thelma Deatherage of Waverly; six grandchildren.
Surviving Mrs. Maude Baldwin are one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Deatherage of Waverly; one brother, Albert Edwards of Carlinville; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
