Mother: Jane Edwards Edwards
Spouse: Simon Bacon
Mary, the wife of Simon Bacon, is sometimes shown with the middle name Crita. That is not correct, and is believed to be a carryover from a past mis-identification.
Mary was just seven years old when her Mother died, and her father packed up to leave for a better future for his children. There had been back to back cholera epidemics in Wilson county, TN, along with smallpox and a host of other diseases. Henry bought public land in Williamson county, IL, near the present community of Corinth. Nearby were many of his old friends from Tennessee.
Mary is in the 1850 census in Wilson County and the 1860 census in Williamson, IL as Mary Edwards. She married Simon Bacon in Jackson County, Illinois on 17 October 1867. Mary was in the 1870 and 1880 censuses in Williamson County with Simon. Simon was in the 1900 census but Mary was not. Her children shown in the censuses are as follows:
William A 1870
James W 1875
Hiram H 1878
Simon H 1880
Ella 1883
Alice 1885
Emma 1887
There is no known death record for Mary. Based on the birth of Emma in 1887, a reasonable death date would be 1890.
DNA matches confirm Mary's ancestors Henry and Jane and her husband Simon Bacon.
