Mrs. James Baker of Lane passed away in St. Joseph's hospital, Bloomington Friday morning, December 30, 1927 after an illness of several weeks duration with complication of diseases.
Ella Edwards, daughter of Samuel and Catherine Berg Edwards was born in Creek township, Dewitt county April 22, 1867. On October 20, 1887, she was united in marriage to James Baker and to this union three children were born, Julia now the wife of County Judge W.F. Gray of Clinton, Edwin Ernest of Lane and Katie who died in 1895. In addition to her children she leaves her husband, a number of grandchildren and several brothers.
Mrs. Baker, with her family, lived on a farm near Lane for many years. Later they retired and moved to Clinton where they erected a modern bungalow know as Bakerhurst at the south limits of Clinton.
About a year ago they rented their property in Clinton, and moved back to the farm.
Funeral services were held from the M.E. church. Internment in Woodlawn cemetery.
The pallbearers were Vaughn, Lewis, Malcom and Don Edwards, James Gray and Frank Edwards. The flower bearers were Mrs. Joe Murdock, Mrs. K.S. Brown, Mrs. Toombs, Mrs. Lavina Hume, Mrs. Alice Garmire and Mrs. Fenner.
