Bertha was the daughter of Leon and Pearl Jacob Eisen. After attending the University of Arkansas and graduating from East Central State College in Oklahoma, she became a school teacher. She headed the music department of the Konowa, OK, public schools for 13 years and also taught music in Fair Lawn, NJ.

Bertha's first husband, Nathan Farb, whom she married in 1934, died in 1940. In 1945, she married Rabbi Alfred H. Kahn. Her third husband, Max Davidson, died in 1973.

She was survived by a son, four sisters -- Jeanette Horwich, Rae Gleaner, Norma May, and Davidine Steele -- and a brother, Leon Eisen.
