A native of Boyd, Spencer Nebraska, moved to California in 1924 with her father; George Thatch Sr., two sisters, Edna, and Marie, and her two brothers, Jim and George Jr. She married James Barkett Elliott, and had a son Glenn L Elliott. During WWII; Betty worked a "Victory/War Job" working on military aircraft. She is a direct descendant of the First Families of Virginia, (FFV); originated with colonists from England who primarily settled at Jamestown, along the James River and other navigable waters in the Colony of Virginia during the 17th century.
