Carolyn Eleanor Atkins, 89, of Clements died Oct. 15 at a local convalescent hospital after a lengthy illness. The Sacramento native was born Carolyn Elliott on Nov. 19, 1904.
Reared in Sacramento, Mrs. Atkins graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in teaching. She returned to Sacramento and taught science and home economics at a junior high school for eight years.
She married Allan Atkins in Redwood City on July 25, 1937, when they moved to Clements and farmed for many years.
Mrs. Atkins was a member of Order of Eastern Star Lodi Chapter 150, Mission Group of Lodi Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Lodi Travel Club, California Farm Bureau and Phi Kappa Pi Sorority.
She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, sewing, knitting, and taking day-trips with the travel club.
Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Atkins in 1991, and a sister, Marie Louise Locke.
She is survived by a son, a daughter; two sisters, Annabelle Doris Anderson and Jane Clair Margetic.
