ENGEL, Dorothy Mae age 88, of Dayton, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Widows Home of Dayton where she was a resident the past 2 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Engel and son John V. Engel. She is survived by a son Bill and Sue Engel, daughter-in-law Carol (Raterman) Engel; grandchildren, Janelle (Matt) Leonard, Nick, Joe, and Andrea Engel and great-grandchild Elliott; many beloved nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong member of the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church; and the Free Spirits funeral choir. She retired in 1970 from United Cerebral Palsy to take care of her Alzheimers stricken mother. She later worked as a volunteer for U-Can-Profit thrift shop associated to UCP. Dottie dedicated her life to her family and pleasing others. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Widows Home of Dayton for the loving care that they had given Mom in her later years. In celebration of Dotties life, the family will receive friends Wednesday, February 3, 2010 from 5-7 PM at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME Belmont Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 10:30 AM, at Immaculate Conception Church 2300 S. Smithville Rd., Dayton, OH. 45420. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next her life-long partner James. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church Memorial Fund. Funeral procession will form at the church.
