Her previous employment included work at Booker Washington Center, Community Services, Rockford School District #250 as a teacher's aide, retiring from Warner Lambert Pharmaceutical after 15 years.
Prior to outside employment, she worked as a stay-at-home mom, providing a loving and nurturing home environment for her children, grandchildren, their friends and neighborhood children. She affectionately embraced the name Nana, opening her home with hospitality to all.
Jeanette was a prolific reader, loved music and had a vast knowledge of history, especially African American and Rockford history. In her youth, she aspired to be a writer or librarian, earning several awards for her compositions and was repeatedly complimented for her beautiful penmanship.
She leaves to cherish her legacy, children, daughters, Janet Mingo of Homewood, Illinois, Jeanne (William) Banks of Rockford, Freda (Dennis Taphorn) Bailey-Murray of Henderson, Nevada, Linda (Herbert) Kasiem of Rockford,Jennie (Sidney) Gray of Oakland, Tennessee, Jeanette Shelton-(Bryce) Kahley of New Milford, Illinois; sons, Fountain (Myra) Bailey-Murray of Union City, California, Arthur (Debbie) Bailey-Murray of Coralville, Iowa; one cousin, Jane Myles; two sisters-in-law Ora Bailey-Murray and Joan Bailey-Murray; 31 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors and co-workers.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, one brother William J. Ethridge, Jr.; two sons, Fred E. Bailey-Murray Jr. and Iley J. Bailey-Murray.
Our world will not be the same without her.
