Age 21 years old.

Stirling I W7633 Took off at 22:28 hrs for an operation to Hamburg.

Homeward-bound, the aircraft was hit by three schwere Flak-Abteilungen and crashed, coming down at Little Thurlow, just to the north of Haverhill in Suffolk at 10:45pm.

A local woman, Mrs Enid Gridley, was able to pull the severely injured rear gunner from the wreck but he was to die later of the injuries he sustained. The rest of the crew were all killed.
