Ellen A. C. Anderson, age 92, died on Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Meriter Hospital in Madison. She was born December 9, 1907, to William H. and Laura (Ketalboeter) Evert in Berry Township, WI. Ellen was baptized and confirmed in St. Pauls Lutheran Church by the late Rev. E. F. Scherbel.

She was born on a farm. Being a farmer's daughter, she missed the hard work, the tractor and the big horses when she and her new husband settled in Madison, but time is a great healer and she adjusted. On February 23, 1927, she was united in marriage to Russell M. Anderson. Together they enjoyed 67 and one-half years of marriage. They became members of St. Johns Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Three children were born to them, Arlan O., Duane L. and Virginia L. Ellen was a stay-at-home mother until her children were through school. After that she was employed by the J. C. Penney Co., Inc. for a number of years.

She and Russell traveled extensively through North America and Europe. Ellen's hobbies included her family, crocheting, genealogy, scrap booking and the Brewers. She was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Ellen is survived by her son, Duane (Marcia) Anderson; daughter, Virginia (James) Schumann; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Wylina and Norbert Kerl; and dear friends Joyce and Joe Procknow.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on September 14, 1993; son, Arlan, on April 19, 1979; brothers, Franklin and Carl Evert; and sister, Olive Danz.

Interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park
