Winney Fain Allingham died Friday, Jan. 20 at an Atchison hospital. Mrs. Allingham was former secretary-treasurer of the Globe Publishing Co. and had been women's editor of the newspaper.
Mrs. Allingham was born in Wellington, Texas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. T. "Tom" Fain. She graduated from Wellington High School with the Class of 1924. She attended Baylor-Belton College for Women of Belton, Texas. She began work at the Amarillo Globe-News in 1928.
In 1945, she was named National Advertising Manager of the newspaper. She held that position until 1951 when she and her husband bought controlling interest in the Atchison Globe. She was women's editor of the Globe until she retired in 1976.
Her survivors include two brothers, Everett Fain, Shamrock, Texas, and Watters Fain, Memphis, Texas; and a sister, Mrs. Olivia Oldham, Canyon, Texas.
