Virginia P. "Pat" Christopher, 82, of St. Joseph's Home in West Peoria for the past few years, formerly of rural Princeville, died at 9:35 a.m. Sunday, April 20, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Born April 3, 1921, in Peoria to Harry P. and Virginia Haupt Faye, she married George Thomas Christopher on May 25, 1940, in Peoria. He died May 31, 1996, in Peoria.

Surviving are two daughters, Judy (and Duane) Richoz of Denver and Colleen "Chris" (and Frank) Timmermann of Chillicothe; one son, Guy (and Beverly) of Mahomet; one sister, Harriett (and Frank) McNeill of Denver; seven grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers.

She was a seasonal worker at Princeville Canning Co. for more than 30 years, where she became the first female supervisor.

She was a former Republican precinct committee chairwoman.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Princeville and its Altar & Rosary Society.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at her church. Monsignor Richard Soseman will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, with recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to her church parish center building fund or St. Joseph's Home.
