MARGARET (PEGGY) JEAN DAVID Margaret (Peggy) Jean David was born in Riverside, CA. July 25, 1924. She grew up during the depression where she learned that great friendships and close family relationships were the most important things in life. During World War II she earned an accounting degree at Mills College in Oakland, California. Her first accounting job was checking inventory on the Liberty Ships built by Kaiser to supply the troops in the Pacific Theatre. She said they built one of the ships in just six days! Peggy worked as an accountant for the Oroville Buick dealership. It was in Oroville that she met Rufus (Bud) David. They were married in 1948. They raised oranges and olives in Oroville and Loma Rica. Here they built life long friendships, some of which continue in their children today. The family moved to Southern California in 1963 where she went to work for Ken Roggy Ford. She earned promotion to where she became the first female to run a California Ford dealership. She then developed the business to prepare it to be sold. After the sale, the family moved back to Oroville where they again became olive farmers. She worked for Marr Dodge and KORV, the local radio station, before retiring. Peggy was active in several charitable organizations before and after she retired, Omega Nu, Friends of the Park, Oroville Community Concert Series and United Way, to name a few. She was also a member of the First Congregational Church. She continued growing olives until 2000, on her much loved farm. She loved her rose garden, which exists today at the home of her granddaughter. Peggy passed away on Nov. 15th, 2013. Her parents, Dennis and Bettina Field, husband and one son, Michael David (killed in the Vietnam war), preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Steven and Phillip and one daughter Susie. She is also survived by five grandchildren, (Jeff, Danielle, Janine, Leah, and Brian), four great grandchildren, (Maddie, Dylan, Noah and Ezra), and an adoring niece, Patricia Brusa Allen. May she rest in the peace she so richly deserves.
