Fern Fielding was the fourth of nine children born to William Lycurgus and Margaret Rose (Keegan) Fielding, all in Ely, Nevada.

She married John Clair "Curly" Ashworth on September 17, 1940. They moved to Twin Falls, Idaho in the early 40s, where Curly owned and operated Ashworth Motor Company Chrysler/Plymouth dealership until 1958, when the family moved to Las Vegas, NV.

Fern was a talented seamstress, making clothes for her daughters and their dolls, creative Christmas ornaments every year, quilts, quilted marble bags for her son, needlework, and even upholstery. Her hands were never idle until she became afflicted with arthritis.

Fern always loved to dance, and learned the 'Bop' from her teenaged children in exchange for teaching them the Charleston. When there weren't enough dance partners, she used the refrigerator door.

She took up golf in the early years of marriage in what she described as "self defense". She so excelled that she was the Blue Lakes Country Club (Idaho) Women's Champion in 1952.

After Curly died in 1985, Fern spent many summers at their Ruby Valley, NV cabin, keeping an eye out for her beloved Mountain Bluebirds.

Fern passed away in Las Vegas December 21, 2005. She is remembered by all who knew her for her clever, witty, fun-loving personality, and for her warm congeniality to all who entered her home.

Children of Curly and Fern Ashworth:
i. Carol Ann Ashworth (Bianchi) 1942-1994
ii. John Paul Ashworth 1944
iii. Margaret Jane Ashworth 1945-2014
