The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Father Michael Richel celebrating. Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church on Sunday from 12 noon until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. Interment at Calvary Cemetery will be scheduled for a later date in the spring.
Leona was born May 12, 1930 in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin; the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Chessmore) Finnegan. In February of 1949 she married Mainert H. Anderson in Wisconsin Dells. Leona worked for many years in the downtown Wisconsin Dells gift shops. She was a member of the local VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, the Senior Citizen’s Club, and St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.
Leona is survived by sons Mainert J (Nancy) of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and Roger of San Diego, California; daughters, Betty (Jerry) Smith of Madison and Rachelle (Glenn) Albright of Columbus, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Dan, Kevin, Lori, Megan, Amanda and Ashley; great grandchildren, Tyler, Chloe, Kacy and Lydia; a brother in law, Sidney Anderson of Wisconsin Dells and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Richard H.; sisters, Catherine Leege, Grace Brown, Mary Knapp, Eileen Hurley, Ruth Mueller, and twin infant sisters, Marcella and Gertrude; and brothers, Francis and Maurice.
