HUSBANDS: Thomas E. Butler / Thomas Whalen

Mrs Thomas P Whalen, 83, mother of George E Whalen, former supervisor of the
town of Dover, and now counsel to State Comptroller Arthur Levitt, died
unexpectedly at her home in Dover Plains on Tuesday. The former Lillian Flagler,
she was born in the town of Beekman, the daughter of Edwin & Madeline Birdsall
Flagler. She was married to Thomas P Whalen, former postmaster of Dover Plains.
He died in 1935. Her first husband, Thomas E Butler, died in 1913, and a son,
Otis F Butler, died three years ago. Survived by her son, three grandchildren,
George Patrick Whalen, Thomas J Whalen, and Carolyn Butler, all of Dover Plains.
Burial in Beekman Cemetery, Poughquag.
