nna Jane Flanagan, age 98 of Wadena and formerly of Verndale and rural Nimrod, passed away on Tuesday, January 24th at the Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena. Anna was born on July 12, 1907 the oldest daughter of Martin & Veronica Carik in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up on a farm near Cavalier, ND. On Sept. 6, 1927 she was united in marriage to Martin Francis Flanagan of Sebeka. They lived near Chicago, then moved to a farm by Nimrod, operating a dairy farm until retiring to Verndale in 1976. Mr. Flanagan died in 1978 and Anna moved to an apartment in Fair Oaks Lodge in 1999. She then moved into the nursing home in 2000. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Martin; son Peter; daughter and son in law Mary Ann & Ted Kiszka; brothers Joe, Peter, Charles, Martin, John & Edward; sisters Mary, Elise, Katherine, Madeline & Mildred. She is survived by her children James (Rita) of Aurora, John (Arlene) of Hoyt Lakes, Mick (Irene) of Fargo, Maurice (Joyce) of Green Valley, AZ, Margaret (Keith) Rauch of Sun City West, AZ, Dennis (Cheryl) of Eagan, Madeline (Stephen) Fleming of Las Vegas, NV & Mildred (Robert) Cuyler of Corona Del Mar, CA; 28 grandchildren & 43 great-grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 28th at 2:00 PM in the St. Huberts Catholic Church in Blue Grass with Fr. Michael Kellogg and Deacon John Weiske as celebrants. Music will be provided by granddaughter Holly Younggren. All of her grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial will take place in the church cemetery following the services.
