Katherine (Fonseca) Andrade, 77, of New Bedford died Wednesday February 6, 2002 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Manuel Andrade, and was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Monteiro) Fonseca.
Mrs. Andrade was born in Mattapoisett and had lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

She was formerly employed at the Buttonwood Senior Center.

Mrs. Andrade was the matriarch of her family. She was an avid reader and loved sewing.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Donna Beverly of New Bedford and Wendi Barros of North Dartmouth; 6 sons, Henry "Ricky " Grace, Franklin J. Grace, Manuel Andrade, Jr., Donald Andrade and Warren Andrade, all of New Bedford, and Stanley J. Grace of Mt. Clemens, Mich.; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Minnie Pontes, Eugenia Mason, Frank Fonseca, Manuel Fonseca, Henry Fonseca, Oliver Fonseca and Julia Gilbert.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday February 11, 2002 at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday February 10, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
