Jeffrey David "Jeff" Fonteyn, age 35, of Staples, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. A Funeral Mass is planned for Monday, February 23, at 11:00 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. The wake will be Sunday evening from 5-7 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples with Parish Prayers at 6:30. Burial will be at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples. Jeff was born on January 8, 1974 to David and Stella (Robben) Fonteyn in Staples. He grew up on the family farmed and graduated from Staples high School in 1994. He attended Brainerd Technical College for one year, studying auto body repair. Jeff enjoyed his work in the outdoors as a logger for the past 14 years. His passion was going ice fishing and bear hunting. Jeff was very dependable, giving, and always there to help. Jeff lived life "Wide Open."
Jeff is survived by his parents, David and Stella of Staples; partner, Tracy Brand and her son Trent; siblings, Kelly (Lee) Lingbeek of Marshall, Brenda (Jason) Borash of Randall, Jenny (John) Vavra of Painesville, and Jamie (Christina) Fonteyn of Staples; nieces and nephews, Kaitlin, Andrew, Breanna, Brodie, and Addison; Grandmother, Agnes Fonteyn; and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
