MERKLE B. ARMSTRONG, 81, of Galena Park, passed away Feb. 15, 2008. She was born April 3, 1926 in Avery, Texas, daughter of N.N."Doc" Ford and Corda Murphy Ford. She was a member of Galena Park Methodist Church since 1946. She was a former member of the Galena Park Chapter of Eastern Star, the United Methodist Women, Crosby Quilt Guild and G.P. Garden Club. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Oscar E. Armstrong, Sr.; children, Oscar Jr.& Betty Armstrong; Myra & Earl Neves; Charles Sr.& Carol Armstrong; Bert & Pam Armstrong and Dena & Bruno Rodriguez; by sisters, Alma Cunningham and Virginia Cole; as well as by 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at Galena Park United Methodist Church, 1705 1st Street, Galena Park. She will be laid to rest Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Avery Cemetery in Avery, Texas. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 17 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
