Rose was born in Cobh, County Cork, Ireland. She came to America in 1956. She lived in Brooklyn before moving to Old Bridge in 1967, and to Brick in 1998. She was an Old Bridge Crossing Guard, at the Voorhees School, for 18 years, before her retirement in 1992. She was an active parishioner at St. Thomas Church, Old Bridge, and later at St. Dominic's Church, Brick. As a woman of strong Catholic faith, she was very active in the Right-to-Life Movement, including having participated many times in the yearly march in Washington, D.C., and had also made pilgrimages to Medugorje.
Rose was predeceased by her son, John, in 1972, and her husband, Patrick, Sr., in 2011. She was also predeceased by her parents, James and Maryanne (Slattery) Forde, her sister, Sheila Keating, and her brothers, Michael, Seamus, Nicholas and Sean Forde. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and Marilyne Cashman, and Jim and Mary Cashman , her daughters, Cora Cashman, Pauline Cashman and Brenda Fox, and her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Ralph Rozas, and Nina and Mike Thompson. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Aileen Stenger, Deirdre O'Connell, Christa Rose Murphy, Brittney, Josh, Toni Lyn, Alex, Austin, Pauline and Nick Fox, Kaitlin Rose, Bridget, Ciara and Michael Thompson, and Alexis Rose, Kelly, Jamie and Amanda Cashman, as well as 4 great-grandchildren: Alana, Maiya, Brielle and Natalie Rose. She is also survived by siblings, Renny Forde and Madge Webster, in Ireland, and Nora Kurek, in Canada, as well as other relatives and friends.
Visitation will take place at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Sunday, December 30, 2012, from 4-9 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Dominic's Church, Brick, on Monday, December 31, 2012, at 10 A.M., followed by interment at Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, donations to Right-to-Life (www.nrlc.org), or St. Dominic's School, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, N.J. 08724, would be appreciated.
