Mrs. Isabelle B. Ayers, widow of J. W Ayers died Sunday afternoon at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. M. C. Rambo, 717 West North street. She was seventy-seven years old. She had been in failing health for a long time never having recovered from a stroke of paralysis. She was well known in this part of the state, having spent her entire life in Illinois.

Mrs. Ayers maiden name was Isabelle B. Fortune. She was born in Chatham, Ill., June 2, 1848. She and J W. Ayers were married in Mechanicsburg. Mr. Ayers died Jan. 20, 1912. She made her home in Mechanicsburg until 1868. Then she and her husband moved to Macon county and settled in Whitmore township. The family moved to Decatur in 1906. Mrs. Ayers united with the Methodist church in early life, but after moving to Oreana she united with the Christian church there. After moving to Decatur she and her husband transferred their membership to the Central Church of Christ. She was active in church work as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. Ayers was the mother of six children. Two died in infancy. The surviving children are W. F. Ayers at New Lenox, Ill., Mrs. J. H. Burgess of Oreana, Mrs. J. H. Williams of Letcher, La., and Mrs. M. C. Rambo of Decatur. There are thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. All her children were with her during her last illness.

The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Rambo, 717 West North street. The body will be taken to Oreana and services will be held there at 2 o'clock. The interment will be in Union cemetery.
