Anne Fortune Alexander

COLUMBIA - Anne Fortune Alexander, 86, passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011. She was born in Bluefield, WV to Henry and Constance Fortune. Other than Bluefield, WV during her life she lived in Roanoke, VA, Columbia, SC, Elmhurst, IL and later back to Columbia, SC. She was a member of the Columbia Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church. She was a kind and loving mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John McConnell Alexander; four brothers, Henry, John, Tim, and David Fortune and four sisters, Alice Marra, Margaret Litz, Constance Housman and Susan Fortune. She is survived by one brother, William (Eddie) and Gladys Fortune of Bluefield, WV and sister-in-law, Katharine Fortune of Goldsboro, NC. Immediate family left to cherish her memory and whom will miss her dearly include son, John Jr. and Sheila, son, Chris and Lycia and daughter, Beth (Chastie) and Billy; grandchildren, Andy, John III, Kelly, Elyse, Todd, Laurie and Chris, great- grandchildren, Ryan, Drew, Zaine, Dominic, Sabrina, Jack, Alexander, Lyrical, Legend, Jonas, Marlow and Harper.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the care givers at NHC Healthcare – Lexington, SC for all their care and support.

Visitation will be in Bluefield at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Saturday Feb. 26, 2011, at 1pm with church service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association [www.alz.org/donate]. Following church a graveside service will be held at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Princeton. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
