Plainfield – Hugh Daniel Fortune, 63, of Plainfield, passed away March 17, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Eastern Passage, he was a son of the late John Austin and Elizabeth Myrtle (Reid) Fortune. Hugh had worked for Scotsburn Dairy, and had been an 18-year employee of MacDougall Bulldozing, before starting his own landscaping business, which he dearly loved. He is survived by his spouse, Diane; daughters: Sherri (John), Pictou; Gene, Cambridge, Ontario; Marie (Tracy), Three Brooks; siblings: Charles, Scotch Hill; Emily (Roy), Westville; Anne, Evelyn (Harry), Fern (Clayton), and Allan, all of St. Catharines, Ontario; grandchildren: Danton, London, Nicholas, Meadow, and Megan; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews who all adored him. He was predeceased by brothers: Albert, Eugene, and Wilson. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday from Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn, with Rev. Dr. Norman Marple officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
