Funeral Services for One of Town's Oldest Residents To Be Held Tomorrow
Robert A. Fowler of 303 Walnut street died at his home yesterday morning (July 31, 1940) after a ten day illness caused by the heat.
Mr. Fowler celebrated his ninetieth birthday last March with a large family dinner party. He has long been known as one of the oldest residents of the town.
Born in New York, he had resided in Westfield for the past thirty-five years. Mr. Fowler was a retired lumber business operator, formerly having been a member of the firm of Fowler and Silverhorn Co. in Brooklyn for many years.
He was a member of the local Presbyterian Church and was known for his active participation in church activities.
Mrs. Elizabeth Drake Fowler, his wife, died about twelve years ago. His survivors are four daughters, the Misses Carrie and Elizabeth Fowler, at home; Mrs. Arthur M. Pierson, Elm street, wife of County Treasurer Pierson, and Mrs. Walter R. Darby, wife of the Commissioner of Local Government of New Jersey.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow from the home at 3:15 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. William Kerr McKinney, minister of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
