Franklin began his career in 1910 as a booking agent for vaudeville acts and later joined Famous Players Lasky as diretor of theater operations. He later moved on to head the Fox-West Coast Theaters. In the early 1930s Franklin joined with Arch Selwyn and began producing stage plays including: ʽLady Jane,ʼ ʽContinental Varities,ʼ ʽConversation Piece,ʼ ʽLʼAglonʼ and ʽRevenge With Music.ʼ Franklin also authored the books ʽSound Motion Pictures. From the Laboratory to Their Presentation,ʼ published in 1929 and ʽMotion Picture Theater Managementʼ published in 1927. Franklin also worked as an executive for Columbia Pictures and died in Mexico City while on a business related trip. (Information provided by Tony Scott)
