Funeral for Maude Freeman Blackwood, 91, of Athens, formerly of Decatur, will be Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joey Thompson and the Rev. Charles Sparks officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Blackwood, who died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at Athens Convalescent Center, was born Sept. 28, 1915, in Tennessee to Will Freeman and Mattie Sprouse Freeman. She attended Bible Baptist Church in Hartselle. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fletcher Blackwood; and her daughter, Audrey Fay Blackwood.
Survivors include two sons, J.W. Blackwood and wife, Sandra, of Danville and Ralph Blackwood and wife, Janett, of Athens; one daughter, Betty Johnson and husband, Ben, of Moulton; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mackey Young, Ben Johnson, Keith Blackwood, Jackie Truett, Kevin Robinson, and Anthony Blackwood.
Memorials may be made to Bible Baptist Church Daycare Center in Hartselle.
