The Decatur Daily -- Sunday, June 6, 2004:

Funeral for Mildred Freeman Blizzard, 91, of Hartselle will be Monday, June 7, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mildred Blizzard died Friday, June 4, 2004, at Cedar Springs Assisted Living in Decatur. She was born in Danville on July 23, 1912, to John Elmer Freeman and Annie Milam Freeman. She attended Huntington College for two years and Athens College for two years.

While in Hartselle, she was a member of United Methodist Women, Book Lovers Club, and Garden Club. She was secretary at Morgan County High School for 17 years. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church where she taught a beginners Sunday School class for many years.

After retiring from her secretarial job at Morgan County High School, she worked for her husband John O. Blizzard in his State Farm Insurance office.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Blizzard Sims of Hartselle; one grandson, Mark Lee Sims and wife Tina of Decatur; and two great grandchildren, Summer and Austin of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Fred Langston, Charles Howse, James Taylor, Allen Stoner, David Langston, and Dr. Robert Sittason.
