"WORCESTER - In the death of W. H. French Worcester loses one of its most public spirited citizens and prominent business men. His death, which came as a great shock to all, occurred at the Fox Memorial Hospital at Oneonta, Wednesday morning, May 19th, at 9 o'clock from cerebro meningitis, which developed from an attack of influenza. Mr. French was the son of Dwight and Cornelia Nowlan French amd was born at Lisle, Feb. 23, 1867. He was twice married, his first wife being Miss Bertha Stowits of Amsterdam who died several years ago. October 5, 1904, he was united in marriage to Miss Roba Russ of this village and their life has been most happy. Mr. French was a most devoted member of the Presbyterian church, having been clerk of the session for many years, his work being greatly appreciated by the Otsego Presbytery ... his devotion to the aged mother of his wife, Mrs. Clara Russ, has been most sincere. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved wife, who has been a faithful helpmate both in the home and in the business and to the sister, Mrs. Margaret Nichols and the brother, Harry French, both residing at Lisle. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the house, the Rev. W. D. Jones officiating. Interment in Maple Grove cemetery."
