Our precious Lord Jesus has called Jackie home on Jan. 28, 2008. She was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Idaho Falls.
She was born Feb. 2, 1930, to Ross T. and Cathern Imel French in Cortez, Colo. She lived in Lewis, Colo., where she went to grade school until the sixth grade. The family moved to Buhl in July of 1942 and then to Twin Falls, where she graduated high school in 1948. She is the third oldest of nine children. She married Roscoe (Merl) DeBoard on Nov. 14, 1948, in Twin Falls. In 1954, they moved to a farm in Jerome. She has four children. Michael Deboard (Rebecca) of Alaska, Randall DeBoard (Nancy) of Eugene, Ore., Christine Carlson (Joe) of Idaho Falls and Susan DeBoard, deceased two days after birth. The family moved to Pocatello for 13 years and, in 1980, returned to Jerome.
Jackie's main interest in life was to raise her two sons and daughter to have good work ethics and get an education. She was active in the Scouting programs and church activities for her children. She always had horses for her children, the neighbors and cousins to ride. Jackie loved farm animals and raised many prime dairy heifers. She was a homemaker, canning from her garden, making bread and sewing clothes for her family, and even a wedding dress for her sister. She loved doing ceramics. Her sister prizes a nativity scene every year that Jackie painted. Jackie stood for good things; after the children were out of the home, Jackie enrolled in Bible study fellowship and sharpened her knowledge. Jackie endured many years of poor health, making the best of it.
Her brothers are Richard French of Boston, Archie French of California and Joe French of Utah; and sister, Doris Boyd of Twin Falls. She was preceded in death by brothers, Sonny, Norman and Donny French; her parents; daughter, Susan; and husband, Merl. Jackie has five grandchildren, Brandy Skarr (Zack) of Idaho Falls, Brady Undhjem (Jill) of Shelley, Maddie Deboard and Kallee Gibson (Bobby), both of Eugene, Ore., and Erin DeBoard of California; and three great-grandchildren, Abbie and Ava Undhjem of Shelley amd Kadence Gibson of Eugene, Ore.
