Mrs. David B. Bartholomew
The death of this good women occurred Monday morning, July 4, at her home in this village after some years of declining health. She had borne patiently her gradual loss of strength and realized that she must soon be overcome by the relentless disease from which she suffered. She died in the consolation of Christian hope. Mrs. Bartholomew's maiden name was Harriet French, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James French, born April 18, 1838, and her life had been spent in Naples. The old homestead was at the turn north of the Hunts Hollow road where some member of the family has lived until recently. After her marriage in 1862, her home was for many years in Garlinghouse and in Hunts Hollow, but 12 years ago they moved to this village. She was a member of the Methodist church and an earnest conscientious Christian. She had lived a useful life, doing well her part as wife, neighbor and friend, and her departure will be keenly felt, especially by her devoted husband who is now left alone after a happy companion-ship for so many years. She leaves also a large circle of relatives and an extensive acquaintance throughout the town and vicinity.
One brother, Barzillai French resides in Naples. Funeral services are holding this afternoon at the house, Rev. C. G. Roop officiating and the burial will be in Rose Ridge cemetery.
