Cristi Leanne Fryar-Bissell, 38, of Mena, AR passed away June 9, 2014 at her home.

Cristi was born January 20, 1976 to Darrell Fryar and Connie Carter-Miller. She attended elementary and middle school in Prescott, AR and graduated high school in 1994 with Honors from Caddo Hills High School in Norman, AR. She completed the Practical Nursing Program at RMCC in Mena, AR, then was accepted to the Registered Nursing Program at Eastern Oklahoma State University. Cristi was employed as an RN at Mena Regional Health Center. She worked in several departments including Med-Surg, Labor and Delivery, but most of her career as an RN was spent in the Senior Behavioral Health Unit.

The biggest highlights of Cristi's life were the birth of her two boys. In April, 1996 her oldest son was born, and July 2001 her youngest was born. Cristi enjoyed being Homeroom mom when they were younger, attending school events and ballgames. She also enjoyed taking them to Sunday school, church and church camps.

Cristi was a member of Salem Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school when her health allowed. She enjoyed singing her favorite church hymns, "I'll Fly Away" and "Amazing Grace". She always looked forward to hearing the word from Reverend Jack Schoeppey on Sundays.

Survivors include, parents of Mena, AR, two children of Mena, AR; father of her children, paternal grandparents, maternal grandmother of Glenwood, AR; one sister of Redwater, TX; two brothers, two nephews, three nieces, Special friends of Mena, AR and of Prescott, AR.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather John Carter of Glenwood, AR; a cousin Chad Carter also of Glenwood, AR; and her father-in-law Tommy Bissell of Mena.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Schoeppey officiating. Interment follows in Nelson Cemetery at Glenwood under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, June 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarice's Room of Hope at The Look Salon in Mena.

Pallbearers will be Cecil Carter, Roger Carter, Dustin Standridge, Hunter Hughes, Timmy Crawford, and Brandon Newbolt. Honorary pallbearers are Mitchell Carter, Jerry Carter and all her fellow Nurses.
