Born in New York City, NY, he lived in West Hartford before moving to Newington 47 years ago. John owned and operated John's Construction Co., West Hartford, for many years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3884, 3rd and 4th Degree.
Besides his wife, Josephine, John is survived by his three daughters, Sandra Condreva and her husband, Kenneth of Livermore, CA, Kathleen Buckley of Newington, Mary Fuchs of East Baldwin, ME; his brother, Peter Fuchs of Santa Monica, CA; his stepdaughter, Pauline Murphy and her husband, Edward of Mystic; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Judith Gerrie.
His funeral service will be Friday, 9:15 a.m., from Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at Church of the Holy Spirit. Interment with Military honors will be in West Meadow Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday, 5-7 p.m., at Newington Memorial.
